A Mother's Day Card

Yup! Love you, Mom!

Mother's Day is coming up! Yay! I guess. Whatever. I don't get that excited over holidays. Except for Halloween. Anyway, I made a card for my Mom (just getting how that makes me sound like a 5 year old) and this is how that happened.

Ingredients:
  • Blank 4"x5 1/2" card with envelope
  • 3"x5" index cards - 2
  • 3 1/2" ribbon
  • MOM scrapbook embellishment
  • Love rub-on
  • Self adhesive heart
  • Scrapbook tag
  • Brads - 2
  • Stamps - background stamp, letter stamps
  • Inks - pink & gold
  • Glue stick
  • Glue dot
  • Hole punch
  • Scissors
  • Brad tool
Begin by stamping your background on both sides of the blank card with pink ink.

Stamping the background.

Run the pink ink pad over the edges of the 3"x5" cards.

Pretty up the edges.

Place the MOM embellishment in the lower right corner of a 3"x5" card.

Putting the "MOM" in Mother's Day.

Apply the Love rub-on in the upper left corner of the same card.

All you need is love...

That needs something more...fancy. A sparkly heart does the trick!

...and more love...

 Much better!

and lots of love!

Now, for the YOU tag. I started with a little scrapbook tag and stamped YOU on it with gold ink.

What were we talking about? Oh, yeah. YOU.

I then attached the tag to the card using two brads and my handy-dandy brad tool. The brad tool's not necessary, but it does make it much easier.

I <3 my brad tool.

Punch a hole in the center at the top of the card and thread the ribbon through. Hold it in place with a glue dot at the back of the card.

Ribbon makes everything better.

Glue the card to the front of the, well, card. The bigger card. You know what I'm talking about. Don't pretend you don't.

Glue it down.

Do the same with the other index card to the inside.

Glue that down, too.

That's all Folks! (If I'm being 5 years old, I may as well watch cartoons.)

Finished!

Now I just need to figure out what gift to give her. Suggestions are always welcome.

  1. Loving the card. I really like the look of brads in my cards too, they really finish it off nicely. I will be 5 years old this year too.

  3. I like the variety in the lettering between "love" and "mom"...very cool. And, there's nothing like a homemade card, no matter how old you are!
