Make someone's special day a bit more special with a gift card in a handmade holder. |
It's time, once again, for Iron Craft's weekly challenge. This week's challenge is to make a wedding gift. I have no weddings coming up in the future, so this challenge was a bit more challenging than usual for me. It really made me think. And think. And then I had a breakthrough. I normally give gift cards. The holders that come with them are usually plain, so why not make a pretty one? (And save it for some hypothetical future wedding.)
Ingredients:
- Gift card template
- Glittery scrapbook paper
- Sticker
- Adhesive foam strip
- Stamps
- Inks
- Scrapbook tag
- Tulle
- Brad
- Rhinestone
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Scissors
- Craft knife
- Straight edge
- Stylus or bone folder
- Pencil
I started off with an old gift card holder that I had and traced it on glittery scrapbook paper with a pencil. If you don't have one, I made a template for you. You're welcome. Just click below to download it. Print it at 100%, cut on the solid lines and fold on the dotted lines.

The inside needs to be pretty, too. |
I then stamped a To:/From: image in gold ink.
Yeah, it's a Christmas stamp, but in gold it looks like wedding bells. |
Now you can fold it. I used a ruler and a stylus to score the lines.
Using a straight edge and a stylus or bone folder ensures a clean fold. |
Yay, it folded correctly! (I usually get worried at this point.)
It folds nicely. |
I had a sticker that says "Celebrate" and attached it to a scrap piece of paper and then stuck that down to the decorative tag with an adhesive foam strip.
Celebrate good time. Come on! |
That wasn't fancy enough for me, so I stuck a velvet brad through the corner of the tag that had a fake rhinestone...
More, please! |
...and then I stuck a real rhinestone on top of that.
Rhinestones make me smile. |
Still not fancy enough. Tulle to the rescue! I took a strip, made a loop, and glued it to the back of the tag.
Tutu cute. |
I glued all of that onto the front of the card. So pretty! A bit over-the-top, but most weddings are.
Finished! |
It's all finished and just waiting for a card. And a wedding.
Just add a gift card. |
That pretty card could be used for a shower or other celebratory event as well as a wedding.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I like the tulle:)

Thanks for making the sketch available to download, and ready to print at 100% size. I loaded it up in Photoshop, did some editing, added a few personalized images and text, printed it and WOW - you are the best. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for letting me know! It turns out Google has gotten rid of Picasa while I wasn't paying attention. I have it fixed now. Hope you enjoy!
