Makeover Monday - Ombré Swimsuit Cover Up

Yeah, I really hate to iron.

I bought this cover up a few years ago, but never wore it. I don't wear white. Not even for my wedding. So why did I buy it? It needed a makeover.

Ingredients:
  • Cover up
  • Fabric dyes - Rit's Purple & Navy Blue
  • Salt
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Rubber gloves
  • Bowls (or buckets)
  • Water
I mixed up the dyes according to the directions on the package and put the bowls side-by-side. Yes, I was working on my stove.  It was the only place that wouldn't get stained and was already cleared off. I dipped the top of the cover up in the navy blue and the bottom in the purple. I wanted more blue than purple, so I only dipped a few inches into the purple.

I let that sit for a while, and when I was satisfied with the color, I briefly dipped the middle into one color and then the other.

It's not as complicated as I make it sound.

After tons of rinsing and washing and drying, I now have a swimsuit cover up that I might actually wear. I just need to iron it first.

A closer look at the colors.
