Happy Birthday, Seán: A Birthday Card

Happy Birthday!!!

Tomorrow is Seán's birthday, but I thought I'd give you a sneaky peek at his card before he sees it. Shh! Don't tell!

Ingredients:
  • Blank card
  • Cupcake stamp
  • Paper
  • Inks
  • Adhesive foam strips
  • Rub-on & tool
  • Scissors
  • Markers
Okay, this is going to be a case of craft-as-I-say-and-not-as-I-do because I worked directly on the card, which bled. Quite a bit. I suggest you cut a piece of paper the same size as the card front and glue it on when you're finished.

Using an orange ink, I made a stripe at the bottom of the card. Then I whipped out my favorite cupcake stamp.

Orange stripe.

For the next step, I needed to make a mask. A mask is the image stamped on a scrap piece of paper and cut to the exact shape. This helps layer the images.

Make a mask so you can layer stamped images.

Stamp the first image, place the mask over it and stamp the next one. Repeat as necessary.

See? Easy layering.

Then I took some bronze ink and rubbed and dabbed it all over the front of the card.

Bronze it up.

Then I stamped another cupcake on a piece of paper and cut it out.

Yet another cupcake.

And then I colored it in with markers. I then colored in all of the cherries with different colors.

With a Crimson Red cherry on top.

I stuck it on with some adhesive foam strips. I love the whole 3-D effect.

I tend to use a lot of these.

I found a "Happy Birthday" rub-on in my stash. Yay!

Rub-ons are fun.

I sign all of my messages to Seán with "xoxo" and so had to use my XO stamp. Love it!

The inside.

So, that's it!

Happy birthday, Seán!!!
xoxo,
