Holiday Treats (recipes)

Yummy treats for friends and family.

This week's Iron Craft challenge was Mulligan, meaning that we could do any of the previous challenges that we wanted. I did challenge #46 Handmade Holiday. This is just a small portion of things I've made for gifts this year, but since it's not Christmas yet, I didn't want to spoil any surprises.

 The recipes:

  • Red Velvet Cupcake. The cupcake you might recognize from my Yummy Scrummy Desserts! post. It's a different batch. I swear.
  • Gingersnaps
  • Spritz Cookies
  • Truffles
  • Lemon Slices
  • Lemon Slice Filling - Vegetable shortening, lemon juice, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, all to taste and consistency.
  • Peppermint Bark - Melt together semisweet chocolate chips and one tablespoon of vegetable shortening. Pour into a wax paper lined pan and smooth it out. Melt together half a bag of white chocolate chips and half a bag of red candy melts. Pour over the chocolate and sprinkle the top with six crushed candy canes. Refrigerate until hard and then break it into bite sized chunks.
The spritz cookies and the lemon slices were easy to convert to vegan recipes. All I did was switch out the butter for butter flavored vegetable shortening.

  1. I didn't do any holiday baking this year so I'll just live vicariously through you ;)
