Snow!!! |
This is the sight that greeted me when I looked outside this morning. Snow, snow, and more snow! What's a girl to do with all that snow? (Yeah, I'm not shoveling that!)
Make snow cream, of course!
From the time I was a very little girl, my favorite winter memories were of Grandma making a big batch of snow cream when the first big snow hit. Now, I'm not gonna lie. Hers is way better than mine. I'm pretty sure she uses sweetened condensed milk. I didn't have any and made do with what I had.
I started out making the plain vanilla snow cream, but, meh. It needed something more. I came up with, get this...buttercream flavored snow cream. It's like eating frozen frosting. Love it!
Bowl o'Snow |
Buttercream Snow Cream
makes 8 cups - 16 servings - 51 calories per serving
Ingredients:
- 1 big bowl of fresh snow (I used the largest mixing bowl I had. A popcorn bowl works, too.)
- 2 cups of skim milk
- 3/4 cups of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of almond extract
- 1 teaspoon of butter flavoring
- Add the sugar and flavorings to the snow.
- Add milk a bit at a time while stirring until the consistency is creamy.
- Pour the mixture into a freezable container and freeze for at least an hour.
- Nom. Nom. Nom.

Trying it out. |

I have no idea why it didn't occur to me until this year to try different flavors, but I'm so glad I did. The possibilities are endless. Snow cream is fast, easy, and, yes, Super Simple! The hardest part is waiting for the snow to fall...and deciding which flavor to try next.
